Made in America Panel Predicts Lack of Support for Keystone Pipeline will Sink Dems in Next Election

Neal Asbury opened his nationally syndicated “Neal Asbury’s Made in America” show on Radio America (now on 45 stations) by warning about impending political fights over the new budget, sequestration and the setting of the new debt ceiling that will further derail any move by Congress or the administration to fix the economy.

Neal’s first guest was return guest Congressman Scott Tipton, (R-CO), who represents Colorado’s third district.  The congressman repeated the Republican call to the Obama administration to put America first by reducing the tax burden on the average American and by spurring small business to create more jobs.

“Our small businesses are the nation’s number one job creators, but they are struggling under a host of new taxes and regulations.  The president and his staff have never worked in the private sector so that have no idea how to incentivize small business owners so that they can create good paying jobs.  Unemployment is at 11.8 million, and under Obamacare, that number is sure to grow when businesses can’t afford insurance for employees and just stop hiring,” predicted Tipton, who added that we must reduce the size of government and our debt, which exceeds $17 trillion.

Neal and Co-host Dr. Rich Roffman returned to a discussion that started during last week’s show about the spiraling cost of social security unemployment insurance, which now accounts for 20 percent of all social security payments.

“I never thought I’d see the day when the goal of many American workers was to get on disability insurance, even if they weren’t entitled. When you can earn $300,000 over a lifetime on disability, there’s an incentive to go for it. So now more than 20 percent of all disability claims are fraudulent.  The tragedy is that there won’t be money for the disabled who qualify and truly deserve the money,” said Neal, who added that without job creation, disability has become the new unemployment insurance.

Dr. Roffman referenced the movie The Big Chill, recalling that in the film a friend had committed suicide because, as the minister said, “He lost hope.”

“I’m not suggesting this will occur, but I am suggesting that millions of Americans have lost hope. In fact, more Democrats than Republicans think that the American Dream is dead. People want a job to restore their dignity, but corruption is depriving them of the opportunity, and the federal government seems to condone people stealing money at the expense of the average American,” noted Dr. Roffman.

Returning to Made in America was Dr. Pat Michaels, Director of the Center for the Study of Sciences, at the Cato Institute, who suggested that even if the Keystone Pipeline was ramped up to 800,000 barrels a day of oil, the effect on global warming would raise the Earth’s temperature by one ten-thousandth of a degree.

“Over the last million years, the temperature of the Earth was higher than it is today. And do you know what CO2 does to plants? It actually helps them grow! So this discussion about the effect of the Keystone Pipeline on the environment is without merit, and I think it’s going to carry implications for the Democrats that might lose the Senate over Keystone the way they lost the House over Cap and Trade,” predicted Dr. Michaels.

Also returning to Made in America was Lance Roberts, CEO and Chief Economist at Street Talk Advisors, who agreed with Neal and Dr. Roffman that while informed people are looking at the real unemployment numbers, this administration is trotting out phony numbers to make it look as if jobs are being created.

“Employment is the key driver of the economy.  The administration knows this so they continue to under-report unemployment numbers and over-report job creation. We’ve already seen the administration have to reverse their numbers over the past two months, and in a year or two, we’ll see that the numbers have all been reversed, when people will have forgotten the original numbers,” predicted Roberts.

Roberts noted that we’re closer to a recession than an expansion of our economy as a result of the job numbers and wondered why the administration was spending time talking about a housing bailout when they should be talking about job creation.

“Profits and margins are deteriorating for businesses, so they aren’t hiring.  And with Obamacare, even more jobs will be lost. The bottom line is that we need to create enough jobs for those currently unemployed as well as those entering the workforce.  The key is to reduce the expenses for companies so they can hire again,’ concluded Roberts.

Neal and co-host Dr. Rich Roffman concluded the show by returning to the topic of cronyism and its impact on job creation.

“Even when we talk about something as important as the Keystone Pipeline, cronyism is involved.  Keystone could create 13,000 construction jobs and 7,000 manufacturing jobs, but Warren Buffett, a key Obama supporter, has an alternative plan.  Since he is a major stockholder in the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad, by blocking the Keystone Pipeline, the oil would be transported using his freight lines — an enormous source of profit.  So 20,000 jobs are being held hostage so an Obama crony can profit at the expense of everyone else. Pure cronyism,” concluded Dr. Roffman.
