Made in America Panel Warns Listeners About Ongoing Manipulation of Job Numbers

Neal Asbury began his nationally syndicated “Neal Asbury’s Made in America” show on Radio America by castigating the Obama administration and labor department for their ongoing manipulation of the unemployment numbers.  While the numbers released calculate the unemployment rate at 8.1 percent, the actual unemployment rate is closer to 14 percent.

“It’s unbelievable.  Gas prices are up, inflation is up, regulations are up, but the only thing that seems to be going down each week is unemployment. Those figures are bogus and it’s time the American people caught on,” said Neal Asbury.

Joining the show as a first time guest was Republican Congressman, Dennis Ross, representing the 12th District of Florida.

“The manipulation of the job numbers is disdainful and just another sign of failed government leadership, which ignores American exceptionalism, and instead, advocates ‘American Mediocrity,’” said Ross.

Ross noted that all successful businesses have a risk management plan which can account for almost anything except for the unpredictability of the U.S. government.  Ross wants to see the government get out of the way of business so they can succeed.

“America is the Mother of Entrepreneurship.  But we’re losing that ability because there is this misplaced feeling that government creates jobs. They don’t; they interfere in job creation.  That’s the ideological divide between Obama and Romney. America is definitely not better off today than we were four years ago,” said Ross, adding that “Paul Ryan is making an honest connection with the American people, warning them that if we continue to do nothing, we fail.”

Ross suggested that Obama is selling Americans “snake oil,” in the way that he is trying to cover up the diluting of our currency and distracting people from the inflation that will skyrocket if he is reelected.

Neal and co-host Dr. Rich Roffman discussed Neal’s column on Newsmax in which he contrasted the speeches given at the GOP convention and the Democratic convention.

“Democratic speakers all discussed how government entitlements formed the foundation of their American Dream. Numerous grants and subsidies all played a key role in their pursuit of their future vocation. Contrast this to the Republican vision where speaker after speaker talked about how their ancestors came to the U.S. with one thought: to work hard in a country where the opportunity to succeed defined the promise of America,” said Asbury.

He added that he as an entrepreneur who started with nothing, he could sleep well at night knowing that if failed, he could pick himself up and try again.

“It gave me inner peace and fortitude knowing that my future was in my hands, not in the government’s.  The growing belief is that the government can bail everyone out, but it actually robs us of our self-confidence and self-determination,” noted Asbury.

Dr. Roffman agreed, adding “People came here in the 1700 and 1800s to pursue the freedom of ideas, and knowing that if they took a risk they could succeed.  And it was all up to them.”

He noted that this same belief occurred later in the late1800s and 1900s when the Eastern and Western Europe migrations brought millions of immigrants to the shores who knew they could do better in America through hard work and pursue a dream that was only limited by their abilities.  But no guarantees on success—only the opportunity.

Made in America’s next guest was return guest Jim Laski, ex-Chicago City Clerk, a Chicago radio host and author, who weighed in on the prolonged Chicago teacher’s strike.

“You’ve got 350,000 kids out of school – the third largest school district in the nation – and you don’t hear a word about the strike from President Obama, who lives in Chicago, and whose former chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel is now the Mayor. Why? Because they don’t want to ruffle the feathers of the union, which is a big supporter of Obama,” suggested Laski.

He added that the strike was building up after years of neglect, including under the former Mayor Daley, who let schools erode, supplies dwindle, and salaries stay stable.

“I think Emanuel blinked first in his negotiations with Chicago Teacher’s Union president Karen Lewis. It’s unrealistic to evaluate teachers based on the results of their standardized tests they give to students.  That’s not the best way to teach,” added Laski.

While some people blame Mayor Emanuel for the jump in shootings in Chicago, Laski says that this also was building up over years because not enough policemen were on the street.

Joining the show was first time guest Janet Parshall, author of “Buyer Beware: Finding Truth in the Marketplace of Ideas,” which takes the reader on a journey through the public square where ideas are ‘bought’ and ‘sold’ but where Truth is sometimes difficult to find. She examines some of the most controversial issues being debated in our culture today, by looking at them through the lens of Scripture.

“My idea is that we must encourage modern day saints as they enter the ‘marketplace’ by helping them discover the richness of God’s word and the poverty of the world’s message.  This is based on the book “The Pilgrim’s Progress,” a Christian allegory written by John Bunyan, which is regarded as one of the most significant works of religious English literature,” said Parshall.

She noted that her book offers lessons to entrepreneurs, who are encouraged to press on, and recognize that capitalism is not a dirty word.

“I think free enterprise is a biblical idea.  It reflects lessons of the bible such as ‘It is better to have tried and failed then never to have tried at all,’ and that ‘if you don’t  work, you don’t eat.’ People should be applauding entrepreneurs,” said Parshall.

Once again, Asbury and co-host Dr. Rich Roffman introduced their weekly “Cronyism Report,” an ongoing look at how federal funding payouts are wasting taxpayer dollars.

“Obama has the worst job record since World War II, and instead of building confidence, he has eroded it by diminishing self-reliance and personal strength, and pushing people to rely on government subsidies. The food stamp program is out of control.  So how is America supposed to grow, according to Obama?  Big hand-outs – the core of cronyism,” proposed Asbury.

Dr. Roffman returned to his favorite example of cronyism: the ill-fated Chevy Volt, which now costs GM a $49,000 loss on each Volt sold.

“The only thing that is making this less of a disaster than it is, is that the government is procuring Volts left and right.  And GE execs are being forced to buy Volts, thanks to the Obama/GE relationship. GM is losing tons of money. But there’s a winner. The auto workers’ union, which got the wages they wanted and now owns a major stake in GM,” said Dr. Roffman.

He returned to another cronyism debacle: Solyndra.  Despite losing $535 million, the owners of Solyndra had the nerve to ask for tax breaks.  But as a surprise to many, they are actually being challenged by the IRS.

Finally, Adriane J. Fugh, one of Obama’s biggest fund raising “bundlers,” has been able to acquire a $1.23 billion loan from the DOE for her husband’s NRG Solar energy company.  And to give another crony a bite of the apple, Warren Buffett, a major investor, also will see a nice return on his investment.
